Follow-Up on Kim Soo-hyun’s Controversy

Kim Soo-hyun’s Alleged Relationship with a Minor – What’s the Truth?

Rumors surrounding Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron have been making waves online, sparking intense debate. The biggest question is whether Kim Soo-hyun was romantically involved with Kim Sae-ron while she was still a minor.

Both Garo Sero Institute (Gaseyeon), Kim Sae-ron’s family, and Kim Soo-hyun’s representatives have presented conflicting statements, making public opinion even more divided.

With new claims and rebuttals surfacing, this controversy is far from over. What do you think? 🤔

1. Gaseyeon and Kim Sae-ron’s Family Claim: "A Six-Year Relationship That Began When She Was a Minor"

The YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute (Gaseyeon) and Kim Sae-ron’s family allege that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship for approximately six years, starting in November 2015.

To support their claims, Gaseyeon has released photos, letters, and other materials, asserting that the two began dating when Kim Sae-ron was 15 years old (14 in international age).

Additionally, Gaseyeon has shared a photo of Kim Soo-hyun washing dishes at Kim Sae-ron’s home and suggested that more revealing images could surface, further fueling the controversy.

They have strongly criticized Kim Soo-hyun, alleging that he had an inappropriate relationship with a minor, and have hinted at the possibility of releasing additional evidence.

2. Kim Soo-hyun’s Official Statement: "The Relationship Began After She Became an Adult"

In response, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, released an official statement on March 14, firmly denying the claims made by Garo Sero Institute (Gaseyeon) and Kim Sae-ron’s family.

The agency stated, "The two were in a relationship for about a year, from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, after Kim Sae-ron had already reached adulthood."

They also addressed the photos released by Gaseyeon, asserting, "The T-shirt Kim Sae-ron is wearing in the photo was released in 2019, meaning it could not have been taken when she was a minor." However, this explanation lacks concrete evidence, and as more photos continue to surface, the controversy is only growing.

Furthermore, the agency strongly refuted Gaseyeon's allegations, calling them "false and maliciously intended to damage Kim Soo-hyun’s reputation", and warned that they are considering legal action.

3. Public and Media Reactions: Criticism and Concern

Public opinion in South Korea is currently divided into two major perspectives:

1. "A Relationship with a Minor Is Unacceptable."

  • Some members of the public view the allegations as serious and strongly criticize Kim Soo-hyun for allegedly being involved with Kim Sae-ron while she was a minor.
  • If these claims are proven true, Kim Soo-hyun’s morality and ethics will likely come under intense scrutiny.

2. "Judgment Should Be Reserved Until Concrete Evidence Emerges."

  • Others argue that the currently available information is insufficient to determine the truth and that people should withhold judgment until solid evidence is presented.
  • Supporters of this view stress that criticism based on rumors and speculation should be

4. What If the Allegations of a Relationship with a Minor Are True?

If the claims that Kim Soo-hyun was in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron while she was still a minor turn out to be true, this would go beyond a mere scandal and could develop into a serious social issue.

In particular, the controversy could have a major impact on the release of Kim Soo-hyun’s upcoming Disney+ series Knock-Off.

Disney is known for its strict policies on issues involving minors and youth protection. In the past, actors affiliated with Disney have faced contract terminations or project cancellations due to similar controversies. Given this precedent, the outcome of this case could have significant repercussions on Kim Soo-hyun’s future career.

5. The Unrevealed Truth – What Comes Next?

At this point, the truth remains uncertain.

With no definitive evidence to fully support either side’s claims, the controversy may continue to grow as new materials or testimonies surface.

Beyond the personal lives of those involved, this case raises a larger question: "To what extent should the media and the public scrutinize a celebrity’s private life?"

Until concrete evidence is presented, it may be wiser to approach the situation with caution and objectivity rather than reacting emotionally.

👩🏻 Ajumma K’s Comment:

What are your thoughts on this? Honestly, if he really was in a relationship with a minor, that would be a serious issue. But I also think exposing an actor’s private photos is going too far. 😥 Regardless of his celebrity status, revealing someone’s private photos like this feels way too extreme… This is definitely a shocking scandal in many ways.
